Salt & Light pt. 4

Well we made it to the end of this path the closing summary. Let’s put everything together and talk about it.

So we know what Mathew 5:13-16 says. In summary it talks about how we as Christian’s are supposed to be the Salt & Light of Jesus Christ.

Well we also know Justin was not either of those things. I definitely lost my taste and my light was under a basket only to come out occasionally.

While listening to my Pastor speak about this I felt so convicted. How could I tell myself I was a Christian and act so different. How can I call my self a good father to my son and live like this. I know it would catch up with me if I didn’t change.

At the end of his sermon my Pastor said “If you never excepted Jesus into your heart or if you have and you feel that you are not being the salt and light than come forward and ask God for help.” My heart was beating out of my chest. I knew he was talking straight to me. It’s like everyone in the church disappeared for a moment and the Pastor was talking straight to me. So I walked down to the alter (bumping my head on the way) and I fell to my knees crying, asking God to help me become the man he made me and the father Cooper deserved.

Like I said in my testimony I am now doing my best. I’m trying every day to be better I have slips and stumbles but I quickly repent and try not to keep going down the wrong path. My wife and I are thriving now. Doing my best to live out Colossians 3:19 one of the rules of a Christian house hold says;

“Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.”

I am no longer afraid to talk about my faith, a matter of fact sometimes I think I talk too much about it. But it brings me so much joy to do it. As for my fear of losing people in my life, that is gone as well. If they cannot accept the new me than we weren’t friends to begin with. As in 2 Timothy 1:7-8 says;

“for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control. Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony about our Lord, nor of me his prisoner, but share in suffering for the gospel by the power of God,”

I finally feel like I’m the man my wife deserves and the father Cooper can look up to and respect. I am the Salt & Light of Jesus Christ and I will not lose my saltiness or dim my light for anyone ever again!!!
